Personal Care Attendants (PCA)

The Residence at Littledale is recruiting a Personal Care Attendant to join our team. As a Personal Care Attendant, you will provide direct, personalized care to our clients and work closely with the Nursing department to ensure adherence to individual care plans.  You will uphold the vision, mission and values of the Residence and the Provincial Home Support philosophy to work within your scope of practice and provide exemplary client care and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, personal hygiene, walking, transferring, cognition and other necessities as they occur.
  • Assist clients with recreational activities and restorative programs.
  • Assist with the implementation of client care plans as directed by the client and healthcare team.
  • Document according to Nursing policy using an electronic charting system.
  • Work as a team member to improve quality assurance for clients and families.
  • Communicate and report information impacting client care and/or safety.
  • Assist with laundry and cleaning of suites on Assisted living floors or where necessary as directed by supervisory staff.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with seniors in a long-term care facility.
  • A Personal Care diploma or equivalent training and/or experience.

Requirements:

  • Evening and weekend work required.
  • Valid Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Applicable Medical Immunizations.

Licensed Practical Nurse

The Residence at Littledale is currently recruiting a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our growing care team. As a Licensed Practical Nurse with the Residence, you will provide exemplary client care and services while leading other members of the healthcare team to do the same.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, document and direct client needs in consultation with internal staff, Director of Care, and other medical/healthcare professionals.
  • Work with management and healthcare service teams to promote communication and compliance of policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of client care plans as per company policy and scope of practice.
  • Maintain the standard of accurate and complete documentation and reporting.
  • Apply dressings and treatments according to physician’s orders and policy.
  • Assist with supervision and evaluation of job performance and behavior of other healthcare staff.
  • Promote client-directed care, self- care and independence through teaching and encouragement.
  • Incorporate current research findings into clinical practices.

Qualifications:

  • Current Registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL).
  • Physical Assessment, Palliative/Hospice Care experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a senior’s independent living environment and/or long-term care preferred.
  • Alzheimer’s and/ or other Dementia Care courses are considered an asset.
